Public Organizations
As part of a number of laws that have been enacted in Israel in recent decades, such as the Representation of Public Bodies Regarding Environmental Conservation Act (2002), Life and Environment, the umbrella organization of the Israeli environmental movement, sends public representatives to a number of public bodies whose activities have environmental significance.
Apart from the various laws that allow for this public representation, there are other bodies and committees, including those that are established temporarily, where public representation is needed in order to have an environmental perspective heard in a governmental setting. Life and Environment appoints these public representatives, thanks to the work of governmental ministries and the legitimacy that Life and Environment receives from their work with governmental bodies and environmental organizations.
