Forums
Life and Environment aims at enhancing cooperation and knowledge sharing among the various organizations and groups that are concerned with the environment. Life and Environment actively participates in the following forums:
General Directors Forums
The General Directors Forum is an independent group of 15 general directors of environmental organizations who have been meeting for more than a year. The Forum sees itself as a significant and instrumental task force in advancing the environmental agenda in Israel. The Forum is an independent but an essential part of the environmental movement, and as such it encourages coordination and cooperation between organizations represented in the Forum and other organizations. The Forum’s contribution is manifested in encouraging the creation of inter-organizational working groups that seek to advance effective environmental protection activity.
National Committee for the Empowerment of Trees in Israel
In October 2018, a number of organizations, groups and concerned residents gathered in the offices of Life and Environment to discuss the worrisome national phenomenon of tree cutting in Israel, in addition to inadequate treatment of existing trees and the small number of new trees. The purpose of the Forum is to preserve and increase the number of trees in Israel. The Forum is currently shaping its activities and goals, and will focus on raising awareness, formulating standards for tree habitats, proposing new regulation to prevent conflict of interest of forest officials in local authorities, address aggressive tree pruning, changing policies to increase transparency, and generally advocating for considering trees as part of urban infrastructure. In addition, the Forum will study the best practices in dealing with such issues around the world and will adapt and apply this knowledge to a local context.
Life and Environment invites whoever is interested in taking part in the Forum to contact us.
